ATSC Applauds FCC Progress On Next Gen TV

Washington D.C., Feb.2, 2017 – The Advanced Television Systems Committee applauded the Federal Communications Commission’s progress on Next Gen TV powered by the ATSC 3.0 standard. In response to FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s pre-publication today of the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for voluntary implementation of ATSC 3.0, ATSC President Mark Richer said:

“The development of ATSC 3.0 is a landmark in broadcasting, with hundreds of the best technical minds in the industry working on this next generation technology. The ATSC is pleased to see progress continue as the FCC seeks guidance on the addition of ATSC 3.0 as a technology that could be voluntarily utilized by broadcasters”.

“We look forward to seeing how other players in the broadcasting industry respond to the FCC’s notice of proposed rulemaking , and are hopeful the NPRM process will be completed in a timely manner.”
